Academics
The classroom is only where the day starts
A strong academic programme shaped by small teaching groups, a resident subject staff, and a culture that expects boys to argue their own case — in class, in debate, and on the games field.

BISE Abbottabad — Taught with care
APS prepares boys for the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Abbottabad (BISE Abbottabad) examinations at both Matriculation and Intermediate level. For the 1st Year, the school follows the BISE Abbottabad Board Curriculum in the Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical and Computer Science streams.
The curriculum is delivered in small teaching groups by a resident subject staff. Boys are expected to take their own share of the work in class — to argue points, to defend positions, and to take criticism gracefully.
A structured pathway to Cambridge International qualifications.
APS is pleased to introduce its GCSE / O Level pathway — providing a structured transition towards internationally recognised Cambridge qualifications and preparing students for higher studies at A Level and beyond.

The Academic Day
Prep, classes, and everything around them
Matric & FSc
KP Textbook Board streams
Matriculation and Intermediate (Pre‑Engineering and Pre‑Medical) streams follow the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Textbook Board curriculum, examined externally at the end of each cycle.
Teaching Staff
Resident subject staff
Subject teachers live on campus — a boy who needs help outside class can find one in his house or in the staff quarters.
Prep
Evening prep in house
Every boarding house runs supervised evening prep — the second half of the school day, done within the house rather than in the academic block.
Digital Learning
Digital classrooms
Boys have access to digital learning resources alongside conventional teaching — with the discipline of a boarding school around how and when they're used.
Libraries
Reading beyond the syllabus
The school library holds the shelves boys draw on for essays, debate motions, and their own reading — English and Urdu, fiction and reference.
Guidance
University counselling
Senior boys are given support in choosing their next step — professional or university — through internal counselling from staff who know them well.
Beyond the Syllabus
Debate, declamation and the literary societies
Academic life at APS extends into the school's literary and debating societies — Urdu and English — where boys stand and defend their own arguments in front of their peers, the House Masters, and, at inter-school events, their opposite numbers from schools across the country.
The habit of speaking in public — clearly, briefly, and to the point — is one of the things APS most wants boys to leave with.
