House 04
Sir Syed House
Named for the educationist Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
Named For
Sir Syed Ahmad Khan
Nineteenth-century reformer and educationist, whose Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College at Aligarh set the pattern of modern Muslim education in the subcontinent and grew into the university that carries the name today.
The house takes his name because the school itself belongs to the tradition he began — that a serious education is the first, hardest, most useful thing a society can give its young.
